Admission Requirements of different Tertiary Institutions

Parents/Guardians and Learners should know the admission requirements of the various tertiary institutions: Universities, Universities of Technology, Colleges of Further Education and Training (FET Colleges) and Private Colleges.

The following sets the admission Requirements for Tertiary Studies as determined by the Department of Education

FOR DIPLOMA STUDIES:

  • A minimum of 40% in English Home language
  • A minimum achievement of 40% in three additional subjects, excluding Life Orientation

FOR DEGREE STUDIES:

  • A minimum of 40% in English Home language
  • A minimum achievement of 50% in four subjects, excluding Life Orientation
